- Point & shoot cameras, cell phones and iPads are all great devices, but to achieve consistent excellant images use a DSLR.
- Invest some time in reading up on basic photography concepts such as exposure, ISO, aperture, etc.
- Learn the "rule of thirds" and other basic composition concepts.
- Study other peoples' images for ideas.
- Take more shots that you actually need to; digital images cost nothing to develop vs. film developing.
- Shadow a photographer while they capture images
